SAIL-Robotics

 This week students learned about Edison robots and had a chance to do some programming using EdScratch. We learned that programs are downloaded as sound files (so cool)!

SAIL-Math

 Greetings Everyone, This week SAIL-math students got a sneak peek at the projects we will be completing this year! Every month we will have a new theme and a new STEM project.  October Project: Students will use the engineer design process to build a balloon-powered car that can travel at least 5 ft.  STEM Career Connection: Industrial Engineer Industrial engineers determine the most effective way to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service. Math Connection: Students will apply equations to calculate velocity, mass, momentum, force, and acceleration. 

SAIL-ELA Update!

 Hello Everyone, This week I met with all of my SAIl-ELA groups. We discussed what this year will look like and the projects we'll be doing together. We also discussed Odyssey of the Mind. So many students are interested in being on an OM team which is so exciting! We will be competing in the classics. The problem synopses:  Ancient Greek Poet Homer created The Iliad, which tells the story of Achilles and the Trojan War. Now, OM teams will put their spin on the popular concept of the "Trojan Horse" by creating one of their own. It will be used to get past a wall in a performance that also includes a character from The Iliad, an original Greek Chorus, and an unusual statue.   Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers.
